SpatioTemporal was named runner-up in Propel-AIR 2.0, Australia’s AI and robotics commercialisation program led by ARM Hub and designed to help Australian technology companies build pathways into international markets.

The result placed SpatioTemporal alongside a strong group of Australian companies developing technologies across robotics and Physical AI, and provided further external validation for our work in Motion Intelligence. (LinkedIn)
Propel-AIR described SpatioTemporal as a Melbourne-based company building an intent-aware motion intelligence layer for Physical AI.
Our thesis is that robots operating around people need more than perception and planning. They need an additional layer of intelligence capable of interpreting how people and objects are moving, what that movement may mean, and what is likely to happen next.
SpatioTemporal is developing that missing middle layer by compressing space and time into motion tokens and learning the grammar of movement.
The Propel-AIR process gave us the opportunity to test that proposition with experienced robotics, commercialisation and investment leaders, including representatives from ARM Hub, MassRobotics and NVIDIA. Their questions and feedback helped sharpen both the technical proposition and the pathway for integrating Motion Intelligence into the emerging Physical AI stack. (LinkedIn)
The program was won by Sydney-based Contactile, led by Dr Heba Khamis. Contactile is developing bio-inspired tactile sensors and grippers that give robots a more sophisticated sense of touch, enabling them to handle delicate and variable objects. As the Propel-AIR winner, Contactile secured a residency with MassRobotics in Boston. (LinkedIn)
The two companies address different parts of the same larger transition.
As robots move from controlled demonstrations into homes, workplaces, factories, roads and public spaces, they will need increasingly sophisticated ways to understand and interact with the physical world. Touch is part of that challenge. Understanding human movement and intent is another.
For SpatioTemporal, being selected as runner-up was an encouraging milestone, but more importantly it reinforced the scale of the problem ahead.
Billions of robots may enter the physical world over the coming decades. The larger number will be the human-robot interactions those machines must navigate safely and naturally.
That is where we are focused.
